Stephen Lewis visited this elementary school in Swaziland where more than 70% of the students—250 out of 350—have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS. There are currently more than 14 million AIDS orphans in sub-Saharan Africa alone—more than all of the children under 18 years of age in Canada, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Ireland combined.

ABOUT Stephen Lewis Foundation
The Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) supports community-based organizations working to turn the tide of HIV/AIDS in Africa. Since 2003, it has funded more than 300 grassroots projects in 15 countries, enabling these organizations to be a lifeline for their communities. They provide counseling and education about HIV care, prevention and treatment; distribute food, medication and other necessities; reach the sick and vulnerable through home-based health care; help orphans and vulnerable children access education and work through their grief; and support grandmothers caring for their orphaned grandchildren.
